Busy Mommy Beauty Routine

Okay, so you’ve got the breakfast part done, you’ve looked at your schedule for the day, your children are dressed and packed for school, and as long as no one asks any questions you’ll make it in time! Wait, is your kid wearing different colored socks again?

While the joys of parenting are numerous, an abundance of free time is definitely not one of them. Between all the chores and kids screaming at you for attention, a lot of moms end up both feeling and looking exhausted all the time. We miss our little beauty routines and pampering rituals, and a lot of women feel like they have to give up on them completely just to accomplish everything in a day. But that’s so far from the truth! You’ve been a superhero mom so far, and you deserve to take care of yourself! For some quick tips that will help you get gussied up and look good in the morning without sacrificing much time, read on.

Dry shampoo hack

Most moms already love dry shampoo because it can extend the period between hair washes at least for one more day, and special shampoos like the Oribe Gold Lust also leave it smelling fresh. However, there’s one trick to dry shampoo that you might not know about: try using it on clean hair. Yep, after you’ve washed your hair, spray a bit of the product on the roots. Instead of letting your hair get all goopy and greasy first, use dry shampoo to prevent the oils from soaking your hair and dragging it down in the first place. If you like, you can combine this trick with some texturizing salt spray and you’ll instantly have a ton more luscious volume.

Overnight effortless curls

Washing your hair and styling it in the morning takes a ton of time. So, instead of doing that, try this: wash it in the evening, blow dry it until it’s about 90% dry, spray with hairspray, comb through it, and then twist it up into a tight bun high on your head. When you wake up you can just shake it loose and comb through with your fingers and bam – heatless curls! Another version of this is to braid your hair in several tight plaits which will give you more of a wavy texture.

Healthy skin is half the work

If your skin is already gloriously healthy, then you need very minimal effort to look good. Now, good skin comes from the inside, so if you want a pretty glow then make sure to cut down on sugar and start eating veggies, legumes, berries, and especially lean meats like fish. You also want to stock up on water because if you don’t drink enough water, you’re just throwing money on skin products down the drain. Basically, proper hydration of your body keeps the lines out of your face. That’s why it might be a good idea to keep a water bottle by your side at all times. You should also consider cutting down on caffeinated drinks such as coffee, some types of tea, and soda because they can dehydrate you and make your skin look sallow and dry.

Bright, rested eyes

Eye makeup can actually be ridiculously easy. All you need is some neutral brown matte eyeshadow and a nice blending brush. Apply a light layer of the shadow to the crease of your eye, add some mascara, and then pay attention to the next part: nude-colored or white eye pencil. Run it along your waterline, and you’ll be amazed at just how much it can brighten your eyes. Another trick? Add a tiny dab of highlighter to the inner corner of your eye for an even bigger pop.

Double duty products

No one has time for all the proper steps in the morning, so if you want to cut down on time spent in front of the mirror, grab products that can multitask. For example, a BB cream can work as sun protection as long as it has enough SPF in it. The Bobbi Brown BB Cream or some of these are a great choice for this purpose. Wear tinted lip balms, moisturizers that can serve as primers, and rouge sticks that can work both for your lips and your cheeks. Anything that saves you a couple of steps is great.

Eyelash extensions

Easiest makeup tutorial ever? Have eyelash extensions and slap on a bold lip. There, done. Super glam in under a minute! Eyelash extensions could be a good investment because they’ll make your eyes look great no matter what. If you pair them with a nice pink or red lipstick you’ll look pretty damn spectacular.

Don’t worry mommies, being scarce on time doesn’t mean we can’t look great! Follow these tips and enjoy the small beauty rituals that help you feel good in the morning.
