This week, my spotlight shines on a mom of two who believes in health, beauty, and family. Jody is a consultant at Beauty Counter.

Jody’s Beauty Counter is a business website for a 3-year-old startup company, a B-Corporation called Beautycounter. Our mission is “to get safer products into the hands of everyone.” Included on the website is information every parent should know about the hazards associated with the products we are putting on our bodies and on the bodies of our children every day. There is a wealth of information on the website about the personal care and beauty industry in the U.S. including comparisons to the European Union for regulatory standards. Beautycounter is leading the way to industry-wide safety changes, and my passion for the movement inspires my posts on a related Facebook page called “Beautycounter & More with Jody Porter.” There I share interesting skin/ health related articles, local health-related events, information on the charities and non-profits we support, and the latest sales and discounts on our safer products for children and adults.

Meet Jody

We love when mama’s are not only slaying the mom job, but being boss and taking names. Jody is doing just that… And more! Along with her husband Jeff, and their 3 and 6-year old sons (Henry & Mark), they make a living in Webster Groves, MO. When they aren’t shuttling around to piano lessons and baseball practice, they love to hang out at Creve Coeur Lake where they kayak, ride bikes, or play in the sand. Luckily for them, Jody’s mom owns Creve Couer Lake Rentals so they have a massive hook-up!

2016/2017 was a big year for the family, as the boys are just starting Kindergarten and preschool. {As a fellow mom, I understand just how big of a deal this is!! Who else can relate??} Jody and her family are looking forward to a laid back summer with camping trips, trips to Chicago to visit Jeff’s side of the family, lots of pool days, and fun with their friends and cousins.

Before you head over to her facebook grouptake a few minutes to get to know more about Jody!

Who do you see as your ideal audience?

People who are interested in health, skincare, make-up, or even people who wash their hair or wash their children.

What are 3 things you can’t live without on a weekly basis?

Lots of things… Coffee, exercise, and a good night’s sleep.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about health, my family, and learning new things.

Tell us where you are with your blog right now: Just a hobby? Part time gig? Full-time money-making-machine? What are your long term website goals in one sentence?

Part-time gig. My long term goal for my Facebook page would be to get a loyal and interactive following that is just as passionate as I am about health, our environment, what is going into our bodies, and Beautycounter’s mission “to get safer products into the hands of everyone.”
